Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed she was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan), a former actor and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. Her ancestry includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish, as well as German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname, and "Ryan", is her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Meg was graduated in June 1979 Bethel highschool, Bethel. When she moved to New York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. Meg Ryan was her new name, entered acting to make extra money while she was finishing her degree. Her first screen appearance came in 1981 when she made a brief appearance as Candice Bergen’s daughter in George Cukor's last film Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the character as Betsy in the TV soap The World Turns the World Turns (1956) after she had a go at. From 1982 until 1984, she was a member of the team. Meg was also a part of the television series One of the Boys (1982) and was put on hold. In 1984, Meg moved to Hollywood, and was offered a position with the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg's role in the blockbuster movie Top Gun (1986) led to her being selected for Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. She again co-starred with Quaid in the remake of D.O.A. (1988) and the couple married on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg appeared in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the scene in the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated both for the Golden Globe as well as the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, she starred with Tom in Sleepless in Seattle (1993), for which she was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg decided to go against the trend in 1994, in the film of Meg's wife who is an alcoholic and mother "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994). After that, Meg returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) & French Kiss (1995). In 1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award as "Woman of the Year" and was voted as one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world in 1994" by People Magazine.
